Where in the World is Kelley? Philadelphia, PA

Happy Friday ya'll!

Independence Hall
It was under a bit of construction, and raining,
but it was still neat to walk around.
I was on a wee bit of a business trip this week. It went SUPER well, which of course is the most important. I'm rather new at my job and am always the youngest in the room by AT LEAST ten years. So naturally I have something to prove as I have the least experience in the business.

But I'm pretty sure I nailed this one :)

AND...the meeting was done early so we got to walk around the historic part of Philadelphia, PA. I've always wanted to do this. I love history. (If you love history I highly recommend a visit to Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia. Been there twice. It's awesome.)

The Liberty Bell was much smaller than I thought it would be.
But yes, the crack is still there :)
We didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked checking out Philly but I have a good feeling we'll be back often. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

You can see the infamous 'Rocky Stairs' from our customer's window in downtown Philadelphia. We didn't get to visit them but I grabbed a picture of this post card anyway. :)

And this I thought was just hilarious!! Right outside the Liberty Bell exhibit (which is free). My coworkers thought I was crazy when I ran back to grab a picture.

And, naturally, you can't visit Philadelphia and not get a Philly Cheesesteak. This was the first one I've ever had in Philly and it was awesome. I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to finish it.

But I did.

Oh yeah I did. :)

Have you ever been to Philadelphia, PA? Maybe you live there? I'd love to know the 'must dos' in that city. I'm really looking forward to going back and hopefully I'll again have extra time to see a few things.

  1. Never been to Philly - Never been to the USA at all :( - but it looks like it's worth a visit just for that Philly Cheesesteak alone...lol. Reminds me of that program, Man Vs Food

  2. I was totally awesome!

And I LOVE that show! Man vs Food. It's like when I start watching it, I can't stop. :)

  3. The last time I was in Philly was for my 5th grade field trip. It's about a 4 hour drive from where I live (Don't quote me on that). Imagine a bus full of 5th graders for four hours. My poor dad-he was a chaperone.

I was more into shopping then I was into history back then. Of course now I love history and have wanted to go back for so long. Maybe this summer. I remember the Betsy Ross house and taking a carriage ride. And when we went by a dark alley on the carriage the guy giving the tour said it was Filthadelphia. lol. I'll never forget that.

My boyfriend wants to go just because he wants a real Philly cheesesteak. So I have to ask, where did you go to get one?

  4. Well...haha. I actually got this one at the airport. Wa, wa. I'm sure there are better places out there to get them. I think I've seen an episode of Food Wars or something where the best places go against each other in Philly.

But...the airport ones were REALLY good. ;) haha

  6. Ha ha! I haven't gone anywhere. I'm a hermit, lol. But I have a list of places I wanna go. Nothing will move Harry Potter world at Universal from the top of my list, but that Philly Cheesesteak made PA climb a few rungs. :)

  7. Angela - It was fun! I wish I could have been there longer!

Cassie - Oh my, we'll have to change that. :) I've been to Harry Potter World in Orlando. There are no words. Awesome. :)

  8. I don't live all that far from Philly, but I took a small day trip there this past May, and yup -- Independence Hall was under construction then, too. Great city, though.

I'm new to your blog, nice to "meet" you!

  9. Hi Shelley! Very nice to meet you too!

Seems like Philly is as slow with construction as Milwaukee :)

  10. I went with a friend the summer before 11 grade. I got to see the Liberty Bell and the Beach Boys perform on 4th of July. It was really great. Oh and cheese steak I had while I was there was to die for. Seeing the pick makes me want one right now. Glad you had fun, and nailed it!

  11. I've been to Philly once. Man were those cheese steaks ever good. Can't find anything like it around here. Looks like all we're famous for around here is KFC. And we're not Kentucky! :)

    Glad you're having fun!

  12. I had a week long training in Philly, and my husband came with me. He got to do all the sight seeing, and I squished in whatever we could do after 4:00pm. We did do a Duck tour, which was way cool, and ate at an upscale restaurant that actually had pretty food. The dessert looked like a playground, with a chocolate slide. I love walking around and soaking up the feel of history.

  13. Jenny - Ooo, the Beach Boys would be fun!

David - Haha. You know, I've actually never eaten at a KFC. Though they are everywhere it seems :)

Lara - Lucky husband! I love walking through history too. Dreaming up what it would have been like.

    Thanks everyone for stopping by!
