Seek New Horizons

Happy Hump Day Ya'll! :)

I have a super sort post for you, since you were all so kind to read through my extremely LONG kissy post yesterday. Thanks again to Cassie and Hope for hosting the Is it Getting Hot in Here Blogfest! And thanks to all YOU who stopped by to read mine.

I was at the gym and just as the elliptical said 'done' I read the last page of my Self Magazine. Now, this is amazing in two ways. Not only was the timing perfect, but I was actually at the gym. Haha. That's always something to be proud of.

Anyho...on the very last page of February's issue was a page titled 'A Moment for Yourself'. Here is what it says:

Once upon a time, we believed the world was flat - that beyond a certain point, there would be nowhere to go. And though we now know the world is round, we still fear falling off imaginary edges, too often thinking there's only so far we can stretch, so hard we can push. The most dangerous limits are those in our own head. When you feel you're at your edge, look again. You can go farther.

As my legs wound down on my exercise machine I thought...this is so perfect. No matter how many rejections, or how tired I feel, or how many people say I can't, the only person that ever prevents me from doing anything is myself.

So then I jumped off my elliptical and went to a group fitness class. After all, I'm the only person standing between myself and a bikini ready body. ;)

  1. I love that quote! I really do. And good for you for getting off the elliptical and going into a class. I would have fell off the elliptical and crawled to my car. Ha! Can you walk today? Whenever I take a class it takes me 2-4 days to recover.

    1. I am incredibly sore. I've been trying out this new gym. Working out too much in a row. I like it even though right now my muscles don't :)

  2. That is awesome!

You know, they say that the people who are REALLY successful are the ones who went for it "one more time." :)

That is an awesome quote, and definitely one to keep in mind on the days when we feel like giving up!

  12. Gaaah... we're our own worst enemy, eh??? It's so easy to procrastinate... so easy to not believe in ourselves... so easy to just. not. act. If I were an inspirational speaker, I'd say something cheesy like, "Nike had it right. Just do it!" <---Bahaha... yeah, it all comes down to just *doing* it. Great post. :D

  13. Inspirational stuff, Kelley.

I tried Tai Chi yesterday, and I thought that it was so easy doing all of these slow exercises. But this morning, I was so damn sore, I could hardly get out of bed!

  16. I know this sentiment has been used oh, probably a thousand times, if not a million...but Rocky's my inspiration. No matter how many times he gets hit, he keeps getting back up doing what he was made for--and that is to fight. I've learn and incredible lesson throughout the years by doing what Rocky did. No shame if falling, or getting beat up--it's the getting back up to do it over and over again, that's the beauty of perseverance!

    BTW, great post!

  19. This is so awesome! Seriously. This quote just motivated me. I'm pretty good about getting to the gym (I'm a bit of an exercise addict), but there are other activities in which I need to push myself.

And bikini season. Oh bikini season, you kill me.

  20. Self magazine is so right. Everyone needs to be confident and strive to be their best self. Great post. No bikinis for me but I'm happy and I don't read *ahem* certain magazines that remind you that you're not starving yourself or living in an 'air brushed' world. Best of luck with your bikini bod.

I'm also excited to say I'm doing a little ghost writing assisting for someone. I'm getting US$250 in March, stoked!

  22. Ahh, a bikini-ready body. Yikes! (Needless to say, I don't have one.) I love to work out, but it hasn't been happening much lately (except for occasional walks with the double stroller). Good for you, though, Kelley! I admire your motivation and persistence. And that's a wonderful quote. :)
