I'm Ba-ack! What Helps You Recharge?

Hello everyone!

I'm back from my week-long break. It was so needed. And I am so excited to be back.

Congrats to all of you who completed the A to Z Challenge! I bow down to you :)

In light of my recent break, I am curious. How do you recharge? What do you do in order to attack something with the passion that you know you have for it?

I don't usually need to recharge when it comes to writing but it was nice to take a break from the web. My eyes, fingers, brain, just needed a break. And now I'm back!

So I'm curious what you find you need a break from on occasion. Is the break a few hours? A day? Longer? Maybe you don't take a break, you dangle a prize or something from a little string that is just out of reach until you reach your goal?

I'm sure I'll need to recharge again sometime in the future and I'm totally interested in what works for you.

And, right around the corner is the Oh Those High School Dances Bloghop! If you haven't signed up already, you should! It's going to be so much fun and there are many prizes to win! You can sign up below and if you'd like to read the rules just click on the Bloghop button on the left.

  1. I don't take much time away from writing. In fact, I get really cranky and more irritable when I stay away from writing. I know that for a fact and experience lol
Though it's nice to get break from the web. At first, I get frustrated for not knowing what's up, but then I get used to it and even like the "silence" ...

Oh, if high schools in Brazil had proms, I would participate of the blog hop ... since it doesn't, I can't =(
    Have fun though!

  2. My week long break FLEW by. It was crazy.
    But yeah, that works.
OR - I take a day where I do not get out of my pajamas, eat breakfast food all day long and do as little as possible. Those days don't happen often - if ever - but they are VERY nice.

  3. The Recharge is SOOO important. For me it's all about two things: resting and immersion. For me it's really important for my recharge to involve things that I am so excited about that they make me dream about them, or stay up late reading. It's always about stories for my recharge: reading, watching really well done TV and movies. I'll seriously have a whole day where all I do is watch movies. I jump around genre's too, it's not uncommon for me to have a recharge day where I reread a favorite novel for half the day, watch Green Lantern in the afternoon, and cap the day off with something like Princess Diaries and Sailor Moon.

  4. Sometimes I do have to take a break from writing, especially if I'm stuck. I have periods where I write for hours a day for weeks and crank out tens of thousands of words, and then periods when I don't write at all for weeks. It works for me. :) When I need a brilliant idea, I stop writing and wait for it to come. It also helps to run while listening to music.

  5. Okay, did you change your background? Or am I just nuts? I swear it seems different, but I can't remember what I think it was before. I am kinda tired and in need of sleep, so excuse me if I'm totally off the wall here.

And sleep is the best recharge for me. And by sleep, I mean no kids waking me up in the middle of the night. One or less bathroom trips. And not waking up until the alarm rings.

  6. I recharge by reading and watching movies and doing fun stuff with hubby. We went out to dinner last night. I SO needed the break!

  7. Yep, sometimes I go a day or two without doing anything related to writing or internet. It is amazing how FREE you can feel for those days ... but then it's exciting to jump back into it again. :) Glad you had a good break!

  8. I am really rubbish at taking time off - but eventually I will need to take a break! I usually like to get away for a few days if I can - it doesn't have to be far, it just has to be out of my house so I'm not tempted to keep working! :D

  10. Music totally recharges me. Or the movie Hairspray, for some reason. I just love the music from it, I guess!! And yay, looking forward to your bloghop. I need to dig out my high school dance pics!!!

  11. Like Cortney, music totally does it for me. Or a couple hours break. I don't need a lot of time. Just enough to get my head clear. ;) Glad you're back, Kells! We've missed you!!!!! :D

  12. Music, movies and just rime away. Watching a show that I know I love does the trick too. Glad you had a good recharge time.

  13. Great minds. I had a blog break too. I feel it's so important to get a change of scene and refresh the mind so that I have more to share with others.

Good luck with blogfest. Looks awesome.

  14. To recharge I NEED to get away from the internet! But I find it so hard, because it's how I stay in touch with all of my friends, and what would I do if I missed a new viral video or something?! Haha. I think I'm taking a break from writing this week, to watch some good movies and just relax :)

  15. Recharge? What is this... re... charge...? I know of no such thing. ;)

In all seriousness, though, I like to play video games, especially JRPGs (like Final Fantasy) or other story-heavy games. Those keep my mind active while my body just takes it easy, which is usually just what I need.

  16. Glad you're back girl! It just depends on the situation with how much I need for a recharge. Usually a little time away will do the trick. I'll be slow on blogging through May but only because I need to devote my time to writing! YAY! I'll still be by for visits though and you can expect more chapters before long! :) (hopefully!) lol

  20. Missed you!
I'm glad you got to have a break. I fear mine is not over yet, which is making me grumpy, but I'll be back in good time. Sometimes a break is all you can do to get through the day!

  21. Sometimes I want to write without stopping because when I stop I lose momentum.

Writing breaks help to clear the mind and give new insights about what you are writing.

  22. For me it's reading, writing and napping.

  23. Welcome back. I never totally recharge. Even when I'm not writing, I'm blogging. Now that you mention it, I need a vacation!

  24. I spend time with family to recharge, or take a walk by myself. It all depends on what has run down my batteries so badly.

I also do something else creative to spark my writing when I need to.
