Happy New Year friends!
I hope you all had a fantastic start to 2013. I was in Las Vegas with ten friends so it was pretty awesome. Not to mention my agent, Jamie Bodnar Drowley ALSO lives in Vegas so I got to meet her in person! She is just as amazing face to face as she is via other forms of communication.
For today, I have a short post. I'm not super good at online presence awareness, but I'm working on it. I stumbled across this blog/goodreads group and thought it was super cool! Not to mention I'm a debut author in 2013 (so its doubly cool). So I'm passing on my new found knowledge to you. (Even though with all things considered, you've probably heard about this already...haha)
The blog hosting the challenge this year is hobbitsies.net. There's a HUGE group that is participating and there's monthly contests. Sounds like a lot of fun!
The goodreads group you can find here.
What are some other cool groups/blogs I should be checking out? I'd love to hear your favorites! How was your New Years?

Interesting. Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteWishing the best. There's a lot of work ahead, but you're on the right track.
ReplyDeleteIt's so exciting you got to hang out with Jamie! And I don't know anything about Goodreads challenges. Haha.
ReplyDeleteWhat?! I live in Vegas! I didn't know an agent lived here! That's pretty good to know in some weird way. There's not a huge writing community here, so...yeah. Happy New Years! I am glad that you had fun here. I wasn't going anywhere near the Strip this last week!
ReplyDeleteI'm debuting in 2013 too!! I will definitely check this out.
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect for you! Best of luck with your 2013 debut. (I can't think of any awesome sites...I'm bad about getting around the internet too!)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a nice time and congrats on meeting your agent face to face. Will check out goodreads group.
ReplyDeleteCongratualtions! And thanks for sharing the link. How are things?
ReplyDeleteI've been getting a lot of good marketing info off of self-publishing blogs (The Writer's Guide to E-Publishing, BookBaby). It only makes sense, considering marketing is definitely all up to self-pubbed authors. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll check it out. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck in 2013! And thank you for the link - I have not heard of it and will check in out.
ReplyDeleteYay for your debut year! I had a very sedate NYE, eating with my friends and watching Magic Mike...depressing, but good eye candy ;) Here's to a good year!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Vegas, but man you guys must have had a GREAT time. Next time, can I come too? *puppy dog eyes*
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for mentioning the Debut Author challenge, it's the second time I've come across it so I've gotta check it out.
Happy New Year Kelley, this is going to be an awesome year for you!!!! :D
Sounds like a fun trip! And man, I need to get more involved with goodreads--I bet there are a lot of fun things over there :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that you got to meet your agent AND got to have fun with a bunch of friends. So awesome!
ReplyDeleteHow cool that you got to meet your agent in person! I'm glad you had a good New Year. I was boring and couldn't even stay awake until midnight. Lame! But it's been a good year so far. :) I wish you the best in 2013!!
ReplyDeleteWow to meeting your lit agent! I'm so happy for you and your debut coming soon! Thanks for the cool link and your sweet comments on my blog. Yes, I queried with a picture book with my agent, but she reps MG-YA as well, which is an oh-goody for me, as I write them as well. :)
ReplyDelete"as well" twice in one sentence. Sheesh, guess I should've edited my comment.
DeleteWoohoo! Congrats on being a debut author in 2013. Me, too! Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI got totally distracted half way through this post by your cover for Fraction of Stone! Kelley - that is stunning! I'm kind of obsessed with it! Enjoyed the post too. ;) Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Vegas was awesome! Wish I had some groups to share, but I just do the Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads thing. And blog, of course :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
I like your new blog:) Thanks for sharing the goodreads group... going to check it out. Hope you had fun in Vegas... last time I was there it was lots of fun:)
ReplyDeleteI know that the blog Story Siren usually has a Debut Author challenge to read 12 debut authors. I did it for 2012, and I bet they're having it again.
ReplyDeleteThe Debut Author Challenge - I need to check that out! Thanks for passing it along. I haven't really delved into GoodReads yet, though I do have an account.

I enjoy being part of Facebook blogging communities: GBE2 and Writer's Group. They give us topics each week and we write.

I'm so terrible keeping up with groups. The only thing I can keep up with is twitter. I really should do Goodreads.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good new year and met your agent.
Vegas sounds fantastic. One of these days, I'll get out west.
ReplyDeleteI'll check out the link, too.
I'll check out the debut author goodreads group. The only Goodreads group I do is a Young Adult book club; they have discussion boards for the monthly book pick and other reading challenges.
ReplyDeleteMy new years was quite quiet, but in a nice way. I like pondering before the start of the new year. Gives me a clearer sense of direction. :-)
ReplyDeleteNeat!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. :)
That group sounds great for debut authors! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you too!
Definitely sounds like a great start to the New Year and congrats on your 2013 debut!
ReplyDeleteI just came across this from Katy Upperman's blog and it's awesome. Happy New Year Kelley!
ReplyDeleteI'm not so good at blogger awareness, either, but I've resolved to be better at it. Awesome that you got to meet your agent! When's the next Vegas writer's conference? :)
ReplyDeleteVegas must be a cool place to see in the New Year, and it's great you got to meet your agent!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of this challenge, so thanks. I'm hoping to be a debut author in 2013, so I'll definitely check it out!
I'd love to meet my agent some day. :) You are going to rock 2013!
ReplyDeleteDude, that is super cool! And fun you got to meet your agent in person. Definitely wish I had a New Years like yours, but that's okay - I was in bed before midnight. I'm totally lame! lol
ReplyDeleteI was in Las Vegas last year at New Year. It was quite a party. That group sounds like fun. However, I'm involved in a lot of groups already and so behind on my reading.
