Well, another week has past and I seriously can't believe it. We're already halfway through February. I want time to just
STOP
But that doesn't happen.
I have been horrible with a capital H, at getting around to visiting all of you. I promise my goal this week is to do so. Since I've been MIA for so long, I don't know what's new with any of you, so I'd love if you would tell me. That way I can cheer ya on and stuff.
I'll go first.
Life - Just moved into my condo. Pretty much settled now. A few days after we closed my parents sold their house of 23 years. So now I have more moving of stuff to do. Had a birthday. Go me. :) Traveling this week for work and then doing a mini vaca in Florida for the Princess Half Marathon.
Writing - Working on marketing stuff for FRACTION OF STONE's release on March 21st. (I'll have a post about this later.) Critiquing work. Got critiques back for PRINCESS AND THE THIEF and revision suggests for THE CRICKET PROJECT from Agent Jamie. Revisions are 'done' for Cricket. Then its off to submission land. ALREADY THERE is out with a number of publishers. And we wait.
So, that's what's up with me in a nutshell.
Now its YOUR turn. Fill me in! What's going on in your life!?
Hello, Kelley! I feel like I haven't left you a comment in ages. Sorry about that. Revision is in the air it seems. I've been revising too. I think I might have just done my last read through. Now all I have to do is apply the changes I've noted.
ReplyDeleteI really loved that post you did on character bios. I've started using them because of you.
I hope everything goes well for you. :D
I'm kind of dreading the day my parents sell their house. The've been there longer than I've been alive, so the history is a bit staggering. The idea of one day driving by and seeing another family there just feels . . . wrong.
ReplyDeleteI don't have much to say about my goings on. Always at least one or two works-in-progress, but I don't have any requested revisions at the moment. Good luck with yours though! Exciting to have so many novels in queue.
Hope to hear some good news on ALREADY THERE soon. I know what it's like to be on submission. I'm there myself two manuscripts and it's just an ever present itch in the back of my mind. No news = they're still considering it, I tell myself :)
cheers
Hi, Kelley! Wow, you've been busy! I can't believe you have so many writerly things brewing. That's super! Me, waiting on replies from publishers on my picture book. My agent has it out with several publishers at the moment. Working on a new book, MG this time. Just in the beginning stages, so having a blast with drafting and getting to know my characters.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your marketing too, and congrats on the new condo. :)
Congrats for all the hard work you've accomplished! It's crazy how quickly time passes, too, when you're working hard. For me it's just more of the same - work, kids and getting Finding Meara done! I can't wait until it's out, because then I can move on to new stories. Keep me in mind for release stuff!
ReplyDeleteI've been incredibly busy, so I haven't been commenting as much as I like to, too. Wow, you've been busy. Good luck with everything, Kelley! :D
ReplyDeleteYou have so much going on! I'm excited you're all settled into the condo though and so stoked for Fraction to be released! WAHOOO!!!
ReplyDeleteMe - I haven't found time to stop either, or visit blogs like I should, or keep my brain functioning at a proper level. *sigh* I want time to get caught up!
Well I've been incredibly boring. Nothing new going on. Just getting little revisions done before going back to querying. Some critiquing. Just the usual.
ReplyDeleteSo busy! Good for you. :) I'm waiting to hear back from some requested materials at the moment. Otherwise, not much going on.
ReplyDeleteOh man, you've got enough on your plate to feed an army (I sound like a mighty metaphor mixer today)! As for me, I'm in the part of writing where there's writing, revising, waiting, and generally nothing to report.
ReplyDeleteWow! Such exciting and hard stuff in both your writing life and your life life! Best of luck with all of it! (And congrats on none of it killing you. Because really, that much stuff could've easily killed you. Go you!)
ReplyDeleteI'm hunkering down in the revision cave, trying to meet an impossible deadline. Oh! And I just went to a fun conference, where I think I possibly spent more time in the halls chatting with writers than in the conference rooms. It was totally worth it.
Sounds like you've got a good reason for being absent on the blog commenting front. BUSY!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to find a place to buy and make my home. I'm a first home owner so...it's interesting. I don't have finance yet but hopefully will get that ball rolling tomorrow. Eek.
Writing...well I'm in revisions and it's slow going. I haven't decided whether to scrap what I've been doing & start again or not. I do have a new idea for how to revise this story, so... Just gotta decide what to do first!
Hey Kelley! Time is going WAY too fast, I'm sure it was just Christmas the other day!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're all settled in your new home, and that writing projects are going well!
For me, it's been changing book covers and working on a WIP that doesn't seem to want to come out of my head and onto the page lol! I'm close to shelving it and moving on!
What happened to January? Seriously! Moving is always a bit stressful and time consuming but congrats on your new place. And enjoy your mini vacation! I'm treading water over here trying to get through the month and then I think I'm going to take a little breather in March before the madness of AZ in April. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all the moving! Maybe it's good to go right from one to the other, you're all in the swing of things already. Maybe?
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a couple of novellas right now while I wait for my revision notes. But now that speech has started back up my time seems very limited. I need to buckle down!
I can't believe it's time for The Princess half marathon again. Seriously didn't you just run that? And Fraction is out next month. NEXT MONTH! I feel like you just told me it was picked up. This is crazy. But one thing is for sure, I can't wait for the next few months!
ReplyDeleteI've been MIA lately too. It's so hard to keep up though. There has to be a secret. Someone has to know it. lol
happy birthday to you! and look at you go! so exciting!
ReplyDeletei know you like to run, enjoy your mini vacay in the sun!
So glad things are going well! Happy belated birthday, Kelley!
ReplyDeleteSounds like things are going great for you! Busy, and great. I'm so excited to read Fraction of Stone!! Happy late birthday! :D
ReplyDeleteYou know what's going on in my life on almost a minute by minute bases so I'll just say HI!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! And I can't believe Cricket is off to Editor Land already. Go you!
ReplyDeleteI felt like I had to hold my breath through your post, you're so busy! Despite the business, everything seems wonderful! yay!
ReplyDeleteGreat update! Glad to hear you've got so much in the works. I'm wrapping up edits for my current WIP, hopefully in the next couple weeks. Then, it'll be beta and query development mode and jumping into the next project. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! And good luck with the submissions! I've just been trying to get myself to write. Hopefully, today will be the day.
ReplyDeleteNext month, Kelley. NEXT MONTH. Ahhhhhhhhhh! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like exciting things are happening for you, m'lady. A condo and many books in motion. And your birthday! I hope you had a happy one.
ReplyDeleteHoly guacamole! No wonder you don't have as much time for blogs! You have to sleep some time!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the condo and b-day:) I just got back from the SFWC, so I'm still digesting all of that:)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to the OK Writing Conference in May, and building a new (and hopefully more comfortable) desk.
ReplyDeleteYour life sounds more exciting at the moment. Good luck with the publishers!
That's a lot of projects going on at once! I think I envy you! I've been completely immersed in one project (if you count an original book and its two sequels as one project). I love my characters, but I'm beginning to miss some of the ones from other books!
ReplyDeleteWell, you know what I'm up to. :) I'm so excited for you! One month!! And hopefully we'll be done with Princess edits soon and that will be on submission too. *crosses fingers* Good luck with you marathon.
ReplyDeleteMoving is never easy, plus you've been busy with your writing. Enjoy your vacation.
ReplyDeleteI hope everything goes smoothly with the moving. It's always stressful, particularly when things go wrong.
ReplyDeleteI've had to scale back my writing time, since I'm taking 3 classes at the graduate level this semester. Hopefully I'll be able to take the GRE this year and will become an official student in this program. I'm also working hard at refreshing several of my languages and improving several more. I'm enjoying my Estonian and German lessons the most.
Congrats on the condo! And the writing deal!
ReplyDeleteLove the blog.
I met Marissa Meyer, author of Cinder, at a library. She regaled us with the old, non-Disneyfied versions of old folk stories. If you have a chance someday, go hear her speak.
